On the drive back, Aurora was in low spirits. She either kept her head down in silence or turned to look out the window.
A large hand took hold of her small, lightly clenched one. "Are you angry because of what Sylvia said earlier?"
Aurora shook her head. "Of course not. She didn't mean it."
"Then is it because my uncle was furious?" Damien's tone was lighthearted, obviously trying to lift Aurora's spirits by saying whatever came to mind.
Aurora shook her head again. "I understand him."
"Then is it because Bell was the one who called your father? Is that why you're upset?"
Indeed, the very fact that Bell had been the one to call Timothy Sterling proved that Jameson Valerius held no regard for him.
Logically, Timothy Sterling was Jameson Valerius's future in-law. Moreover, with Damien's power in the corporation soaring to a point where even Jameson himself was wary of him, Jameson should have been the one to call Timothy, even if a formal invitation hadn't been sent.
