'It's all that damn girl's fault. Why'd she have to go and say that?'
Aiden Shaw sat down next to Laura Lowell. With his slender, elegant fingers, he picked up a pair of disposable plastic gloves from the dining table and started peeling crawfish.
"Dating without the intention of getting married is just messing around."
"That's just twisting my words, isn't it?"
"So when, exactly, will you agree to become Mrs. Shaw?"
Hearing those two words, "Mrs. Shaw," made Laura Lowell's heart skip a beat.
She turned her head, her limpid eyes gazing gently at the man beside her. She seemed dazed for a long moment before finally speaking. "We've only been dating for a little over two months. You're still on probation right now. I'm not going to let you trick me that easily."
Aiden Shaw smiled, placing the peeled crawfish onto the plate in front of Laura Lowell. When she wasn't looking, he stole a kiss from her soft, pink lips.
