At this point, anyone who wasn't a complete idiot could guess what had just happened.
Naomi Neal turned her head, the picture of innocence, and explained in a soft, gentle voice, "I saw Dr. Shaw was busy, so I helped by getting him some dinner and bringing it over. Did something just happen?"
"Dr. Shaw has a girlfriend. It's best if you don't do this sort of thing in the future, to avoid any misunderstandings."
"Aiden and I aren't just colleagues; we've been friends for years. I was just helping him get some food. Is that not allowed?"
Naomi Neal's tone remained gentle, betraying no hint of impatience or displeasure.
It was as if she were the innocent, wronged party.
Dr. Ward pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. He felt she had a point. "As long as you don't have any other intentions toward Dr. Shaw, I suppose it's fine. Well, I have other things to take care of, so I'll be going."
"All right."
Naomi Neal nodded with a faint smile and then left as well.
