"How could something like this happen?"
"It's my birthday today. The crew got a cake, but I didn't know it had mango in it. I let Laura eat a small piece."
Vivian Yardley stood up from the chair beside Laura Lowell, his voice full of guilt.
Aiden Shaw's gaze turned cold as he looked at him. "From now on, stay away from my girlfriend."
"Laura and I are friends. I can't just stop contacting her or caring about her. Even if you're her boyfriend, Dr. Shaw, you have no right to interfere in her personal life."
Every word Vivian Yardley spoke was laced with provocation.
Seeing the tension between the two men, which was thick enough to cut with a knife, Jolene Joyce quickly tried to change the subject. "It's getting late. How about I go get us some takeout?"
Aiden Shaw's gaze on Vivian Yardley hardened. He then turned and said, "That won't be necessary. You should all head back. I'll take care of Laura myself."
"I'm staying, too."
