"My apologies. My assistant here is just a bit too straightforward. She can't stand to see people stir up trouble by spreading rumors."
Laura Lowell spoke with a casual air, but her clear eyes held a hint of detached coldness.
No matter how good Naomi Neal was at acting, she could no longer keep up the pretense.
"What exactly do you mean? I came here with the best intentions to explain what happened that day, and all I get from you is sarcasm. Don't tell me you think I'm trying to steal Aiden from you?"
Naomi Neal's face darkened as she stared at Laura Lowell. Her voice grew shrill, no longer gentle as it was moments ago.
Laura Lowell simply smirked, ignoring her. With a spoon in hand, she gently stirred the coffee in her cup. "There's no one else here. Aren't you tired of the act?"
Naomi Neal sneered, a vicious glint flashing in her beautiful eyes. "I really underestimated you. It seems you're much smarter than I gave you credit for."
