The air was still chilly from yesterday's rain. Laura Lowell, wearing only a thin costume, couldn't help but shiver.
Vivian Yardley took a jacket from his assistant. "Put this on, or you'll catch a cold."
"It's okay, I have my own clothes."
Vivian ignored Laura's refusal and moved to drape the jacket over her shoulders himself.
But just as he raised his hand, before it could land on her, a powerful force seized it in mid-air.
Aiden Shaw exuded a formidable, chilling aura. His deep, fathomless black eyes simmered with an icy darkness.
"Stay away from my girlfriend."
The two men faced off, swords all but drawn, looking like they might come to blows at any second.
Laura looked up, her gaze softening as she met Aiden Shaw's eyes. It was a complete contrast to the distant way she had just looked at Vivian Yardley.
"What are you doing here?"
The coldness in Aiden Shaw's eyes vanished, replaced by a faint smile as he gently ruffled her hair. "I wasn't busy, so I came to see you."
