The man's magnetic voice drifted through the air, mingling with the smoke.
Laura Lowell looked at him, her expression neither pleased nor angry, but the words that left her lips were utterly scathing. "It's true you can't judge a book by its cover. Who knew that beneath that dapper exterior lies the heart of the scum of the earth."
Nathan Redgrave, of course, understood what she meant.
He took a drag from his cigarette, the rising smoke hiding the complex emotions in his eyes.
"What's this? Here to play the hero?"
"Nathan Redgrave, Hannah Hale isn't some girl you can just mess around with! After what happened, you didn't even offer a single word of explanation. You're the textbook definition of a scumbag."
In the past, whenever Laura saw Nathan Redgrave, she would follow Zachary Redgrave's lead and respectfully call him "Uncle."
Now, even using his name felt like giving him too much credit.
