Hannah Hale sank wearily into her office chair and took a sip from the glass of water on her desk. "By the way, how's the bruise on your arm? Have you put any ointment on it?"
"How did you know?"
Laura Lowell was sure she hadn't told her.
"Dr. Shaw sent someone to beat up Nathan Redgrave last night. You silly girl, if it weren't for Dr. Shaw, I wouldn't have even known."
"It's not serious at all. Don't worry."
Laura Lowell turned her head to look at the man in the driver's seat, a faint smile gracing her clear eyes.
"Enough about me. How are you doing?"
"He and I... we're still the same as before, living peacefully under the same roof, not interfering or bothering one another."
Hannah Hale leaned back in her chair, her features serene and showing no emotion, as if she were discussing a matter that had nothing to do with her at all.
Suddenly, there was a knock on her office door. Hannah Hale called out, "Come in."
