"You're despicable..."
Aiden Shaw looked at Laura Lowell with concern and took the phone from her hand. "Do you think I'd give you the chance to hurt my wife? You should worry about whether you'll make it out of Sudglen alive first."
"What do you mean by that?"
Aiden Shaw's lips twisted into a cold smirk. "It means exactly what it sounds like. My men are all over the outside of your hotel. All it takes is one call from me, and you'll die without a sound. The police won't even come to collect your bodies."
"Aiden Shaw, you're unbelievably brazen."
The old woman on the other end was livid. She had intended to keep Laura Lowell in check, but she never imagined that their own physical safety was already under threat.
"You'd best not make my wife angry again. Otherwise, the consequences will be truly severe."
After hanging up, Aiden Shaw tenderly stroked Laura's hair. "Don't worry," he said, his heart aching for her. "She won't dare touch your mom's grave."
