When she went in, Hannah Hale was leaning against the kitchen wall, staring blankly into space.
"Stop overthinking it. He just can't forget that first love of his. As for why he tried dating you, maybe he liked you a tiny bit, or maybe he's been single for too long and was feeling empty and lonely."
Hannah Hale looked at Laura Lowell in a daze and rested her head on her shoulder. "If a door is unwilling to open for you, and you just keep knocking... that's just being a nuisance, right?"
"Yeah. At that point, it is."
"I know full well he's out of my reach and that he might never be mine, but I just can't give up hope. I keep thinking that if I just try a little harder, maybe he'll fall in love with me. Tell me, am I being persistent, or am I just being stupid?"
