In the emergency room hallway, Hannah Hale twisted her hands together. They were ice-cold, devoid of any warmth, probably from overwhelming anxiety.
'Nathan Redgrave, you have to be okay.'
Hannah Hale stood outside the operating room, her crystal-clear eyes filled with desolation.
Soon, the light above the operating room door went out. A terrible premonition washed over her. 'The accident was so severe... surgery should have taken much longer. How could it be over so quickly...?'
Watching the medical staff walk out, Hannah Hale couldn't even bring herself to ask. She was afraid of hearing the one thing she didn't want to hear.
The doctor removed his disposable mask and looked at Hannah Hale with an apologetic expression. "We did everything we could. The patient had lost too much blood by the time he arrived, and he sustained severe cranial trauma. I'm sorry for your loss."
