The carriage traveled all the way to the foot of Lou Mountain. Having received the news yesterday, Dean Chen had gotten dressed before dawn today. He prepared the items for the apprenticeship ceremony and, without even eating breakfast, led some of the academy's instructors to the entrance to wait with eager anticipation.
When no one had arrived by noon, he sent people down the mountain to greet them, but they waited for half the day to no avail.
Growing impatient, he began to walk further down the path himself. He made it all the way to the foot of the mountain, but there wasn't a single carriage on any of the main roads.
After waiting for about another hour, he finally spotted the General's carriage. A look of delight washed over his face, and he hurried forward to greet it with a broad smile.
"General, we're here," the guard said, stopping the carriage.
