"Old Sheng, our Xiao Wu's noodles are a little too salty, but the topping is delicious.
Can you get me another large bowl? I'll pour some hot water in to rinse the noodles before I eat them."
Mrs. Sheng instructed her husband with a smile. Even though the noodles were so salty they could have sent her to an early grave, rinsing them in a big bowl of water would make it all better.
She was so moved by her son's thoughtfulness that her eyes welled with tears. Never mind that the noodles were salty; she would've eaten every last bite even if they were undercooked.
Mr. Sheng was in a good mood and immediately went to the kitchen to get a huge bowl. He even thoughtfully poured in half a bowl of hot water.
"Ren Ping, just put the noodles in the big bowl to rinse them before you eat. Take your time, okay? I'm going to go take a shower."
"Okay. While you're at it, check if Yueyue is asleep." Mrs. Sheng was worried their daughter wouldn't be able to sleep without seeing her father.
