Nathaniel Nathan trailed off, loosening his hold on her slightly. His deep eyes gazed steadily into hers as he said softly, "I grew up with my grandfather. He's incredibly important to me, so, Vera... you were amazing today."
Vera Xavier knew he had an awkward personality. He was obviously trying to thank her but had a strange way of putting it. She said softly, "I didn't really do anything."
Nathaniel Nathan reached out and gently stroked her head. "But I will remember this kindness. For a favor this great, I feel the only way I can repay you is by giving myself to you."
Vera Xavier was so taken aback by his words that she nearly choked, breaking into a fit of coughs. 'The Nathaniel Nathan I've met since my rebirth has to be a fake!' she thought.
'Oh god, give me back the cold, aloof Nathaniel from my past life!'
Nathaniel Nathan then asked, "Did you come to my house today looking for me?"
