In the nineties, Crestfall Station was still small and its facilities rather basic. From the waiting room, you could clearly see everything happening in the plaza out front.
A police car on patrol pulled to a stop in the plaza.
When Cara Preston saw this, a plan formed in her mind. She sidled up to Rona Langdon and said with a nervous look on her face, "Mom, the police are here."
Rona Langdon's legs went weak when she heard that. Fortunately, Cara Preston was quick to steady her, keeping her from collapsing.
Cara Preston whispered, "Mom, what do we do?"
Rona Langdon glanced at the clock in the waiting room. "The train will be here in a little over ten minutes. Let's go hide in the restroom for a bit."
Cara Preston nodded, and the two of them slipped into the restroom.
