Then, Vera felt something was off. A transfer from a corporate account shouldn't arrive so quickly. 'Could this guy just be using it as an excuse to see me?'
But as it turned out, anything was possible. When she went to check her account that afternoon with her ID, she discovered an extra thirty million in it!
She jumped in surprise and turned to look at Alistair Forrest standing behind her. He was grinning from ear to ear, wearing an expression that screamed, 'Aren't you surprised, Honey? Isn't it a wonderful surprise?'
Vera was at a loss for words. After thanking the staff member, she asked Alistair Forrest, "We agreed on twenty million last night. Why are there thirty million in my account now?"
Alistair Forrest said with a perfectly straight face, "The extra ten million is my betrothal gift to you."
