Vera Xavier finished speaking, then leaned close to Damian Yale's ear. "You should probably keep your distance from me, Senior," she whispered. "The last thing I want is to be targeted by the other girls the moment I set foot in this school. I'm here to study, not to get into arguments."
Her words were so blunt that Damian Yale was taken aback for a moment. 'She's completely different from any other girl I know,' he thought.
But the sight of Vera leaning in to speak made Autumn Rhodes, who was standing nearby, burn with resentment. 'Does she really have to get so close to talk to Damian?'
And it was true; the two of them were standing a little too close for comfort.
In reality, they still maintained a respectable distance, but in Autumn Rhodes's eyes, it looked as if Vera Xavier was deliberately seducing Damian Yale.
