Autumn Rhodes had expected to see Vera Xavier make a fool of herself this time, but she never thought it would end like this.
Her brow furrowed. As she carefully replayed what had just happened, she felt that something wasn't right.
She looked at Vera Xavier and asked, "Were you two really just acting?"
"What else would it be, Senior?" Vera Xavier asked with a smile. "That guy from my hometown isn't an idiot. If we weren't acting, why would he just stand there and let me hit him?"
The truth was, after Vera had hit Wesley Kane in front of everyone, he had desperately wanted to retaliate. The first time he tried, however, he was stunned by what she said. The second time, the pain in his stomach was so intense that he didn't have the strength to fight back.
Autumn Rhodes was at a loss for words. 'She's right,' she thought. 'If it wasn't an act, why would that man just stand there and let Vera Xavier hit him?'
