Yi Ru understood what Tan You was implying. She clenched her fists. "Youzi, I get the feeling you don't have much faith in me."
"You're overthinking it," Tan You said flatly. "That's your life. It has nothing to do with me."
"So cold," Yi Ru said, half-joking. "You're a good person, and your intentions are pure, but you're so stingy with your emotions. What kind of person would ever make you want to settle down?"
"I won't," Tan You replied without hesitation. "I will never stop or settle down for any man. They bring nothing but misfortune and trouble to my life. Other than that, they're utterly useless."
"But you're always alone. Don't you ever get lonely?" Just thinking about Tan You's solitary existence made Yi Ru feel a pang of loneliness for her.
