On the other end of the line, Amelia Avery was instantly wide awake, shooting bolt upright in bed.
But she didn't say a word. She lay back down, her expression exceedingly complex, her mind consumed by what Elias Yates had said.
"You know I can't stand Cassian Jennings, so I wasn't about to help when he got beaten up. I just happened to pass by and see it, so I'm letting you know." When Amelia didn't respond, Leo Joyce wasn't particularly surprised. He gave Cassian Jennings a detached glance and continued spinning his tall tale. "He's at Club 398. Looks like he had a lot to drink and provoked some people from the underworld."
With that, Leo Joyce hung up.
He stood up and walked over to Cassian Jennings. When he reached his side, he crouched down and touched the wound on Cassian's leg. It was still bleeding. A cold, wicked smile crossed Leo's lips as he smeared some of the blood onto Cassian's face.
There was no need to overdo it. Cassian Jennings was already banged up as it was.
