Shirley Lockwood and Harold Bishop sat together, while Eleanor Bishop sat with Archie Lockwood.
Throughout the entire meal, Archie Lockwood doted on Eleanor Bishop.
Eleanor almost gave in to the illusion of being cherished. It was a shame she knew it was all just an act for her father's benefit.
'How could Archie Lockwood possibly truly cherish me…'
'If he truly cherished and loved me, I'd have to wonder if the Earth had stopped spinning. Or maybe there were no other women left in the world.'
'And that's why he was deigning to pay attention to me.'
Watching Archie Lockwood patiently put food on Eleanor's plate and ladle soup for her, Harold Bishop's brow furrowed slightly, a complex look in his eyes.
He prided himself on being an excellent judge of character, believing he had a sharp eye that could see through anything. No matter who tried to put on a facade in front of him, he could usually see right through it in an instant.
