After Lu Xiao and Ares left, the lights in the Duke Green Mansion stayed on all night.
Sounds of wailing echoed from within.
By then, however, Lu Xiao and Ares were already home. After a hearty meal, there was nothing else to do, so they simply washed up and went to bed.
Just before turning in, however, Lu Xiao sent a message to Admiral Clan: "Father, thank you. I was very happy to meet Grandmother today. ^_^"
She thought Admiral Clan would surely be asleep for the night, but to her surprise, she received a reply just moments after sending her message: "That's good."
Two simple words, very much in Admiral Clan's style.
Lu Xiao remembered how Admiral Clan had messaged her before, promising he would handle the matter with Duke Green's family. She never expected he would go to his own mother to do so, nor that he wouldn't tell her right away. This gave Lu Xiao a new perspective on the Admiral.
