They didn't know how long they'd been running, but a faint light finally appeared at the mouth of the tunnel.
The exit!
The sight spurred them on, and the four of them scrambled toward it in a mad dash.
Outside the tunnel, the sun shone brightly on a coastline.
But just as they scrambled out, the entire tunnel that had just trapped them collapsed with a loud CRASH.
The shockwave sent Annabelle and the others tumbling to the ground.
Fortunately, they were okay. Seeing Annabelle fall, Leona Grant immediately rushed over to help her up. "Annabelle Linton, are you all right?"
Annabelle had scraped her forehead, and blood was trickling down.
Leona Grant grew anxious at the sight of her blood. "Are you okay? Does it hurt?"
Annabelle touched the blood on her forehead. Its dark color suggested the cut was deep.
She wiped the blood away, then rose to her feet and said grimly, "I'm fine. We need to find a way off this island. It's going to sink."
