Annabelle Linton knew he was sulking, but she couldn't bring herself to say a word.
'That bitch, Vivian Yates… If she hadn't threatened to destroy the medicine she'd hidden unless I agreed to her demands, I'd have found someone to kill her by now.'
'That Witch Yates, you'd better hope I don't find that medicine. The moment I do, I'll kill you with my own hands!'
Just as Annabelle was lost in thought, a tickle in her throat made her break into a cough.
She quickly turned away, hiding her distress as a shadow passed over her eyes.
'It looks like the drug is starting to affect me, too.'
'I can't. If I stay any longer, he's sure to see that something's wrong!'
Annabelle Linton turned to Leona Grant and said irritably, "Then what on earth do you want? You won't take your medicine, you won't sleep... Can I just leave, then?"
She picked up her pillow and started to walk out.
