Early the next morning, Aston Marsh came knocking. "Hurry up. I'm taking you to see the Madman."
"So early?" Goldie Thorne hadn't had enough sleep. The sky outside was just starting to get light.
"The Madman goes to a time-honored restaurant for morning tea every day. He's there from seven to nine, then he goes home. If you want to find him, you have to go early, or you'll miss him," Aston Marsh explained.
"Why not just go to his house?" Goldie Thorne found it strange. 'Why do we have to find him at a restaurant?'
Aston Marsh said irritably, "If I knew where the Madman lived, would I have to get up this early? Hurry up. If we're late, we won't catch him."
Goldie Thorne was still dawdling in bed, so Nancy Thorne kicked him in a fit of rage. She couldn't stand lazy people. Goldie was quick-witted and silver-tongued, but he was just too lazy. It was an infuriating flaw.
