Byron Thorne nodded. He agreed it probably wasn't a big deal, but Felix and his wife, along with Raina, were in such a tizzy that he'd gotten swept up in their panic. Now that Phoebe Thorne had said her piece, he wasn't so worried anymore.
"Let's wait another two days. If he still isn't back by then, we'll send Frederick to Capria."
Byron Thorne made the final call, and the matter was settled. As everyone prepared for bed, Raina suddenly spoke, her voice laced with resentment, "When the third one gets back, I'm going to find a matchmaker and get him a fierce wife—one who will stay home and work obediently. If he ever tries to run off again, I'll break his legs!"
Outside the door, Goldie Thorne shivered violently. 'My chest feels so tight,' he thought. 'I can't trust Mom's taste at all. She'll probably find me a wife just like my eldest sister-in-law. If that happens, I'd rather be a bachelor for the rest of my life!'
