The hand she was holding Adam Sinclair's with immediately went limp, and the bag she was carrying fell to the ground.
Apples spilled out of the bag, THUDDING as they hit the floor.
Adam had just gone with Ashley to a nearby store to buy them.
"Shay, you're back." Mary Preston immediately stepped over the threshold and walked out.
She swept her daughter into her arms, holding her affectionately for a long moment before letting go.
She looked Ashley up and down. Seeing that she hadn't lost any weight—in fact, her face looked a little fuller—she finally broke into a happy grin.
