Daley froze again. "What?"
"I said, get out! If you take one more step into this room, I'll break your legs!" Every word he spoke was heavy with menace.
Only then did Daley truly feel afraid. She had been skeptical of the story from the woman who'd had her uterus removed the day before. She didn't believe a man like Yuri Sinclair, who doted on his wife as if his life depended on it, could be so cruel.
But today, she suddenly understood.
Her knees went weak. She stumbled out of the bathroom, her mind in a daze. Her foot missed its mark, and she tripped over the bathroom doorframe, nearly falling flat on the floor.
A large gash opened on her ankle, and fresh blood streamed out.
She scrambled to her feet and fled as if for her life.
After leaving the room, she headed for her own, only to be spotted by a passing maid.
The maid was startled to see her so scantily clad and bleeding.
"Miss, are you all right?"
