A waitress came over eagerly to take their order, looking at the three children with envy. "Sir, Ma'am, you're so lucky to have three such adorable kids."
The moment the words left her mouth, Ashley Bowen, who had been looking at the menu, froze and looked up, embarrassed.
The waitress, not yet realizing her mistake, continued her eager pitch. "We've just launched a new family combo. Would you two like to try it?"
"Excuse me, but the gentleman across from me and I are just friends!" Ashley Bowen put down the menu and clarified firmly.
The waitress's face immediately flushed red as she apologized, mortified. "I'm so sorry, I didn't realize..."
"That's enough. We'll call you when we're ready. You can go now." Ashley Bowen's expression had turned thunderous.
The waitress beat a hasty, flustered retreat.
While most people would have found the scene awkward, Miles Xavier's lips curled into a smile.
"What are you laughing at? Did I do something wrong?"
