"Yuri, don't go..."
Ashley Bowen had hemorrhaged during childbirth, and in the end, it was Gordon Thorne who rushed to the hospital and saved her life.
The next day, she was awakened by the WAA WAA of a baby crying beside her.
A chubby little hand touched her cheek. It was soft and warm.
"Come on, say 'Mommy,' say 'Mommy.'" Howard's joyful voice reached Ashley Bowen's ears, and she slowly opened her eyes.
Surprisingly, she didn't open her eyes to stark white walls. Although the first thing she saw was an IV drip, she couldn't smell the pungent scent of antiseptic.
This wasn't the hospital. It was home.
"Godfather, why does my little sister have so little hair?"
"Her hair will grow in when she gets bigger," Howard explained patiently.
"Hey, Mommy's awake!" Gordon, who was lying beside the baby touching her little hand, looked up and broke into a wide grin, revealing a small mouth with a missing front tooth.
