"Joan, since you won't use that one hundred fifty thousand, take mine for now. You lost the department's motorcycle, so that's several months of salary gone. How are you going to get by?" Nola Lane pulled a thick envelope from her bag. Judging by its size, it probably held ten or twenty thousand.
