"You're a pretty rude student, yelling at your coach like that. Besides, having me, Miles Xavier, as your personal coach is the honor of a lifetime." Miles teased her, but his eyes were fixed on Joan Shaw's movements. She was actually skating quite well.
Joan Shaw gritted her teeth and made a face at him.
"Yes, yes, Mr. CEO Coach. How about you teach me how to do a quick stop now?"
"Nope. I can't teach you everything at once. If I did, how would I get to flirt with you later? You have to take things one step at a time. Come on, let's skate a couple of laps together."
"Alright."
Joan Shaw agreed, but she felt a pang of sadness. 'I only have five days left. I don't have all the time in the world. If I don't learn how to skate now, I might never get another chance.'
She stole a glance at the man beside her. The reflection from the ice made his skin look pale and smooth. 'My skin must look like that right now, too,' she thought. 'I hope I'm leaving a beautiful impression on him.'
