Nate Jennings packed her things and checked out of the hotel.
She had just stepped out of the hotel when the phone in her pocket rang. It was her dad.
She frowned, not really wanting to answer.
"Hello? Dad."
"So you *do* know how to answer your phone? Nate Jennings, I'm telling you, you're going to that blind date this afternoon, and that's final! The Wrights are in the real estate business; they're filthy rich. Marrying into the Wright family will do you nothing but good. And let me warn you, if you don't show up, I won't go easy on you!"
After saying his piece, Nate's father furiously hung up the phone.
The man she was set to meet was named Douglas Wright. He was a fat, bald man with a piggish face and a lecherous expression. The moment she first saw his photo, she was repulsed and wanted nothing to do with this blind date.
