"Of course I'm serious about you. Why else would I have eaten shrimp when I know I'm allergic? It's because you peeled them for me," Nate Jennings said pitifully, scratching herself with her fingertips.
"How do I know if you're being sincere or just boy-crazy?" Howard stood up, walked over to her, and took her hand.
"I'm not boy-crazy! And besides, do I really seem like I am?"
"You do."
Nate Jennings's lips twitched. 'Fine, so what if I am a little boy-crazy? This time, with Howard, I'm determined to win him over!'
"So, does that mean you're moved by my gesture?" she asked, batting her eyelashes as she gazed at his profile. 'Wow, he's seriously handsome.'
'Perfect from every angle. A full three hundred sixty degrees, his face is simply flawless.'
"You're reading too much into it. I just want to say, if you're really serious, you should take back those feelings right now. Nothing is going to happen between us," Howard said solemnly, pulling her by the hand up the stairs.
