Adrian Quincy said nonchalantly, "I've finished my business. I'll wait for you to get off work, and then we can head back together."
"Huh?"

Adrian Quincy sat down beside her, looking perfectly at ease. "Before Mrs. Hale left, she kept telling me how smart and quick-witted you are. She also mentioned wanting to invite you to visit her country when you have the chance. Would you like to travel to Country G?"
"I do—I don't!"
"So do you want to or not?"
"If I have no one to go with, I don't want to go."
Realizing she was just missing a companion, Adrian Quincy said, "When I have time, I'll go with you."
"Great!" Even though she knew he would likely never have the time, she still felt incredibly happy.
And so, they fell into silence.
Just then, Phoebe Lockwood's furious voice drifted in from outside. "Dad, you said you would back me up, but now you're telling me to apologize? On what grounds?!"
