Adrian Quincy politely declined. "I'm not suited for this kind of event. You go have fun. I'll be watching you."
"You're going to spy on me again!" Claire Sinclair was immediately upset, assuming he was going to have her followed again.
Adrian Quincy's cold eyes narrowed, his tone stern. "If I truly wanted to spy on you, you would be completely unaware. Claire, I just want you to know that my men won't show themselves unless it's absolutely necessary."
The implication of his words suddenly hit Claire Sinclair. "So, you're saying that when that lecherous old man was harassing me, you were watching from the shadows the whole time?"
Adrian Quincy nodded.
"Then why didn't you show yourself sooner? He was utterly disgusting!"
"I'm sorry," Adrian Quincy apologized in a low voice.
'Of course, he wasn't going to tell her that he hadn't actually seen it with his own eyes. His subordinates had relayed the message, and he had appeared before her as quickly as he could.'
