After getting out of the car, Qin Jiao gave Shen Yi a perfunctory wave and started crunching through the snow toward home. She walked quickly, but Qin Zhonghui lagged a few steps behind. He said to Shen Yi, "I'll drive you two to school again tomorrow morning. Don't try to walk, or your shoes will fill with snow and your feet will freeze."
Shen Yi's eyes lit up, but he replied politely, "Uncle Qin, don't you have to go sell breakfast tomorrow?"
"It's no problem. In the morning, I'll help your aunt push the breakfast cart over first, then I'll drive you two to school before I go back to pick them up. Besides, I have to take Xiao Shi, so it's all on the way."
"In that case, thank you, Uncle Qin."
Shen Yi politely said goodbye and turned to go home.
Qin Jiao froze, a little frantic. "Dad, you don't have to go to all that trouble to drive us!"
"How could it be any trouble? The radio said we're expecting more heavy snow. I worry about you walking to and from school."
