Isla Prescott saw the woman's tears clinging to her lower lashes, on the verge of falling, and thought she looked pitiable. Shane Sterling, however, showed no tenderness whatsoever.
He furrowed his brow, shook off the woman's hand, and said coldly, "If your sister's missing, you should go to the police. Why come to me?"
The woman flinched, biting her trembling lower lip. It was as if she'd only just realized calling the police was an option, and she scurried away in a panic.
Shane Sterling put his arm around Isla Prescott and led her into the restaurant.
Isla Prescott couldn't help but ask, "Who was that just now?"
Shane Sterling answered nonchalantly, "My ex-sister-in-law."
'Ex-sister-in-law?'
Isla Prescott mulled over the connection. She suddenly remembered that Shane Sterling had been engaged before. 'If that woman was his ex-sister-in-law, then her "missing sister" must be his ex-fiancée—the one who cheated on him, right?'
