In a massive valley within Sokovia.
The factories and residents originally located here had been cleared out and relocated a year ago.
This valley had been transformed into a highly restricted military zone.
It was so secure that you could barely see any human personnel inside.
Whether it was material transport or the operation of heavy machinery like cranes, everything was handled by Haro Engineering Robots of various colors.
In the center of this valley base, two "structures" stood out.
One was a behemoth nearly two kilometers long. Its outer shell was made entirely of metal, looking like something between a building and a machine.
The other, slightly "smaller" one, was a pitch-black, battered alien spaceship wreck.
Currently, the exteriors of both massive constructs were covered in scaffolding and structural supports. Countless factory robots swarmed over them like ants, working tirelessly.
Further out, numerous mechanical factories roared continuously.
Raw materials were constantly fed into these factories, processed into various strange components, and then delivered assembly-line style to the two giants.
Focusing on the smaller black spaceship wreck.
Inside a fractured section of the hull, a muffled explosion popped.
Immediately after, amidst a series of alarms, a soot-covered Luca scrambled out.
"Cough cough cough! Dammit! Those Dark Elf idiots! It's a perfectly good pulse engine, why make it so flashy? It's like Ork technology or something!"
Ignoring the Haro robots rushing past him to put out the fire, Luca leaped out from the spaceship breach dozens of meters high and landed steadily on the ground.
However, before he could even take a breath of fresh air...
An orange Haro, also jumping out from the Dark Elf wreck, flapped its big ears and smashed straight onto the top of his head.
Thunk.
A dull thud.
"Idiot Luca! Idiot Elves!"
Struck by a falling object from dozens of meters up, Luca didn't flinch. He simply caught the bouncing little thing with a resigned expression and held it in his arms.
"Steady now."
He patted the little guy casually, not bothering to scold it.
With his body regularly reinforced by Hex energy infusions from his trips to the Dimension War, a little impact like that was nothing.
Turning back to look at the smoking wreck, Luca temporarily abandoned the idea of deciphering Dark Elf technology.
Yes, this military base was built specifically for this Dark Elf Mothership wreck.
Or more accurately, it was for the preliminary work required to synthesize the [SDF-1 Macross].
Luca's original plan was to build the base and set up the industrial facilities, then manufacture the synthesis materials for the [SDF-1] while simultaneously researching the tech inside the Dark Elf ship.
It seemed efficient. Once the synthesis was complete, the wreck would disappear, so he wanted to study it before it was gone.
But as the project progressed, Luca realized he might have overestimated himself.
Sure, with his current knowledge base, he was no longer the fake inventor who relied on Haro to keep up appearances. Even by Marvel Earth standards, he was a top-tier scientist.
But the reality was, neither of his two goals was going smoothly.
First, reverse-engineering the Dark Elf tech.
After getting hands-on with it, Luca discovered that while the "gray-skins'" tech looked sci-fi—spaceships, laser guns, grenades—the underlying principles were absurd.
There were some recognizable scientific components, but they were mixed with a ton of theology, magic, runes, prayers, and other mystic mumbo-jumbo.
Luckily, Luca had some expertise in Demonology and Dimensional Tech. Otherwise, forget reverse-engineering; he wouldn't even be able to understand the theoretical basics.
If it was just "engraving runes to reinforce energy conduits," Luca could wrap his head around that.
But "sincerely praying to the Aether in the Realm of Darkness to multiply runic optical computing power and manifest a stable Black Hole Engine"...?
Luca could read the words. But that was about it.
As for the second goal: manufacturing the synthesis materials for the [SDF-1].
Most items were manageable. Various cannons, missiles, combat robots—he didn't need to make them from scratch. Thanks to the Dimension War, his inventory was overflowing with weapons.
For the "198 Variable Fighters," after a few trials, he managed to create a low-cost prototype that satisfied his cheat's criteria and started mass production.
The awkward parts were the "1 Super-Large Particle Main Cannon" and "4 Large Electromagnetic Railguns."
The terms "Super-Large" and "Large" were vague.
Initially, Luca tried to cut corners, building cannons "only" dozens of meters long to trick the system.
Normally, a cannon that big on Earth would definitely be considered a "super-weapon." Without his [Dehydration Gun], transporting them would require specialized railways.
But his cheat system didn't give any feedback. Even trying to pad the size with empty shells didn't work.
In the end, Luca dumped those "rejects" into the Dimension War to burn off excess Hell Furnace energy, firing a few shots at demons whenever he felt like it.
Forced to comply, Luca followed the scale of the synthesis circle's slot and built a massive particle cannon hundreds of meters long.
It was a piece of junk that would probably disintegrate after one shot and had lackluster power, but... it passed the check.
Now, the only hurdle left was the "1 Humanoid Variable Mechanical Frame over 1500 meters tall."
"Sigh..."
Looking at the colossal construction site covering over a dozen square kilometers, even Luca had to shake his head and sigh.
"Hope this works..."
"With a project this massive, if it fails the check... tearing it down and rebuilding it might take another few years..."
