Chapter 157
Carlos's Point of View
I couldn't look her in the eyes; a bitter lump choked me, as if I had failed her completely. How could I tell her now that I betrayed her trust and told Robert everything? How could I endure her look when she realizes I'll never get her out of this place?
I stood watching her walk away in her quiet beauty, my heart constricting with every step she took.
Robert broke my trance with his sharp voice: "Carlos... let's go."
"Yes... to the office," I replied, trying to regain my balance.
Robert stopped and looked at me suspiciously. "Didn't you say you wanted Luna? What's wrong... did you forget?"
The truth was, I didn't want Luna; I just wanted to see Julie. Seeing her in that dress made me lose my mind and distracted me entirely. "Yes... I thought she wasn't ready yet," I said, trying to deflect my confusion.
"Fine, I don't know if she's ready or not... let's go to the office first," Robert said, continuing his walk.
We entered the office.
