Julie's POV
The words hit my chest like a physical blow, knocking the breath clean out of my lungs.
The blonde woman stood her ground, her posture rigid, the hem of her silk robe brushing the floor with infuriating grace. Her skin was flawlessly pale, her expression detached. She looked down at my tears and my burning, desperate rage as if watching a cheap theatrical performance.
My lips trembled violently. I locked my eyes onto her icy gaze, my voice tearing from my throat a harsh, gravelly whisper dripping with dark irony and bleeding pain.
"Your son?!" I spat, taking a ragged step toward her. "You spent years watching someone steal a baby from his mother's arms, and now you stand here to strip me of my right to his name, his body, his very scent?!"
