Chapter 59 - Three years later

[Three Years After Marriage - Their Home]

Rain stood in their kitchen, making breakfast while Prapai helped eight-year-old Ploy with homework at the table.

"Papa Rain, can we have pancakes?" Ploy asked.

"Already making them."

This was their life now—comfortable, happy, normal. Ploy had healed remarkably, though she still had occasional rough days. But they handled them together.

Rain's career had flourished—he'd designed multiple trauma centers, won awards, become a sought-after expert in trauma-informed architecture.

Prapai had started his own foundation supporting domestic violence survivors, inspired by Rain's work.

"I have an interview today," Rain mentioned. "Architecture magazine wants to feature my work."

"That's amazing!" Prapai said. "Will you talk about your experience?"

"Yes. I want other survivors to know healing is possible."

[Interview]

"You're known for trauma-informed design," the interviewer said. "What inspired this focus?"

"Personal experience. I'm a survivor of domestic violence and abuse. When I was healing, I realized how much environment impacts recovery. That inspired me to create spaces that facilitate healing."

"How has your own healing journey influenced your work?"

"Every project is personal. I design what I needed when I was suffering—safety, freedom. I pour my own trauma into creating spaces where others can heal."

"You're married now, with an adopted daughter. How has that changed you?"

Rain smiled. "It showed me that trauma doesn't define us. That we can survive horrible things and still build beautiful lives. My family is proof that happiness after horror is possible."
