Chapter 251 - Chapter 254: Do You Think She's a Supporting Character?

Shiina Mahiru was eventually forced into the car, as it was simply impossible to let this somewhat naive girl pack her things by herself.

Throughout the entire process, Shiro did not display any teleportation abilities. Instead, a somewhat quiet atmosphere filled the car, because the mood was rather awkward, and the other party was still feeling down.

Hiratsuka Shizuka truly wanted to improve the atmosphere, but at a moment like this, she genuinely did not know what to say.

"Mahiru, don't be so depressed. After all, so much has happened. Don't think about all those unnecessary things; just look at it as the beginning of a new life."

That was the only thing Hiratsuka Shizuka could think of, and the other party merely responded listlessly:

"Hm."

Because of that, she felt somewhat uncomfortable, so at that moment she could only look at Shiro, signaling that it was now his turn. Wasn't he the one who wanted to take her away with him?

Shiro received her look and immediately began to act. Of course, even if he had not received it, he had planned to start anyway.

"Mahiru-chan, there really is no need for you to be like this. In fact, you were already mentally prepared, weren't you? After all, your birthday is in two days, and I roughly understand your situation. In a situation like this, what are you so depressed about? Just think of it as having died once and now beginning a new life."

Shiina Mahiru felt that those words were somewhat strange. Was he comforting her? The problem was that nobody comforted someone in this manner.

Hiratsuka Shizuka had exactly the same thought. Was this guy really trying to comfort someone? Was he serious?

"After all, it's very clear to me that your situation back then was a struggle for control of your body between you and the other side. You lost that struggle, and you were fully aware of everything happening outside. At that moment, you had probably already lost all hope."

"To prevent you from causing trouble for that person, she planned to lock you up for several days and then leave you on your own afterward. You should know that."

"Not to mention that during our battle, that thing tried to drag me down with it by using your body. That truly meant that you were going to die. On top of that, the experiences of the past few days should have woken you up."

"You know, some people are naturally cold, and some people naturally cannot stand a certain person or thing."

"Those kinds of things cannot be changed."

"It's a good thing that the other party wants to sever ties with you; you can also begin a new life. Look at the bright side. Originally, after all ties were severed, how would you have lived?"

"Now at least you won't end up on the streets. Isn't that great?"

Shiro was not good at comforting people. It sounded more like he was rubbing salt into someone else's wound.

Hiratsuka Shizuka could not stop her eyebrow from twitching when she heard that.

"Oh, come on! You call this comforting someone? And could you please wipe that smile off your face?"

She could not hold back and simply said it out loud.

"You want me to comfort her, but how exactly am I supposed to do that? You know what kind of person I am, don't you?"

"Honestly, in a relationship like this, the only connection is blood and that title. Once they become adults, even that title falls apart, and they've barely even seen each other a few times."

"Not to mention that she's constantly been disliked. So why should she try to please that person? What kind of romance novel do you think we're living in?"

"A romance novel?"

Hiratsuka Shizuka looked somewhat confused when she heard that.

What was he talking about?

Shiro heard that and remembered that the concept of such things was not particularly well known here, so he briefly explained it and gave several classic examples. After hearing it, she could not help but complain.

"People actually read things like that? Isn't that just asking for trouble?"

"Quite a lot of people read them, actually. Personally, I can't accept them, either physically or psychologically."

"In my opinion, they completely deserve everything that happens to them. Do people like that even deserve to be protagonists?"

"Yeah, exactly."

The person with the rather rough personality also seemed to understand, and then appeared to realize something.

"Ahem, ahem... everyone has their own choices. We can't control things like that."

After all, sitting in the back seat was a person whose situation was very similar to that. She had desperately tried to become perfect, hoping to attract the other party's attention. However, the other party had already made their position clear, yet she still desperately worked and tried to please them. Wasn't that exactly the same as the heroines in those romance novels?

Hiratsuka Shizuka thought about that, and her eyes filled with suspicion. Perhaps the other party really was that kind of protagonist? For example, now it was the weekend, and under normal circumstances this guy would not intervene. Then she would die because of this incident, be reborn, and begin her great reversal?

Shiro looked at her confused expression and was left somewhat speechless.

Shiina Mahiru met her gaze, and it was as though countless question marks had appeared above her head. Why was she looking at her like that?

"Alright, you're having a chuunibyou moment right now, aren't you? Do you really think the other party is that kind of protagonist and that after dying this time she'll be reborn and begin a revenge-driven comeback?"

Hiratsuka Shizuka had been exposed. A flash of panic briefly appeared in her eyes, and an awkward expression quickly crossed her face before she returned to her calm demeanor.

"What are you talking about, kid? I didn't think of anything like that at all. Stop making things up."

"Oh, come on. Let me tell you something: while I'm here, this world's timeline is stable. No one can go back to the past and start over or cause a butterfly effect unless I allow it."

"So if this girl dies, then she's truly dead. There won't be any rebirth or comeback."

Shiina Mahiru seemed to understand the look in her eyes, but what did Shiro's words mean? She understood every word individually, but when they were put together, she could not understand them.

Hiratsuka Shizuka understood, but she simply thought he was showing off.

"Oh, please. Do you really think I don't read novels? At least come up with a better story before you start bragging. Suppressing this world's timeline?"

"No matter how powerful you are, do you really think something like that is possible?"

It seemed that Hiratsuka Shizuka had finally found an opportunity to vent her frustration, so she immediately started.

Shiro did not pay the slightest attention to her outburst. After all, he truly was keeping this place's timeline stable. Occasionally, some accident or minor instability would occur, but he would immediately cut it off at the root.

Or some small waves would flow back and directly hit him, then disappear without leaving any trace.

"Ahaha, I was just trying to improve the atmosphere. Don't pay attention to me."

Shiro suddenly put on a mischievous smile, as though he had never said those words, as though he had never been boasting. However, it was precisely that behavior that awakened suspicion in one very curious person.

Hiratsuka Shizuka, who knew this guy, began to wonder whether what he had just said had actually been serious.
