Evie turned, hearing a thousand footsteps rushing towards her, to find the emperor flying towards her with several guards. And it is over now, she said, trying to stand up but giving up. She sighed, closing her eyes. That was very fast, she said. It is finally over, she thought.
"Are you okay?" Reign said, standing in front of her.
"I am sorry, your highness," Evie said, reaching to hold his hand.
"What are you sorry for? I am here to ask you if you are okay. The guards spotted some shadowy figure in the palace, and the guards I appointed to Moonlight Pavilion left, so I came to see if you are okay," he said.
"Hmm," Evie said, confused. She thought Wesley had already told him her identity.
"What are you sorry for?" Reign said, looking at her, his head cocked to the side.
"I will tell you soon, I promise. Can you wait till I am ready to tell you?" Evie begged, looking at him.
Reign knew she was talking about her identity, and warmth spread throughout his heart.
