Chapter 180 - chapter 179: A Sweet Flavor and the Shielded Countenance

Kayra's eyelids, which had been tracking the blades of grass on the forest floor, progressively elevated. Reaching down to extract another berry from the broad green leaf before her, she placed the fruit into her mouth.

Tasting the rich flavor, she pivoted her calm vision, anchoring her gaze directly onto Eric's features. She asked in a very casual, familiar tone:

"By the way brother, what made you suddenly go inside the water?"

Eric heard Kayra's direct question. He extended his fingers toward the leaf, effortlessly picking a single berry and putting it in his mouth.

Cheering the fruit, he shifted his alignment to look at Len's calm face resting over the massive root adjacent to him. A clear trace of annoyance toward Len mapped the corners of his eyes, yet he maintained a light, friendly tone as he spoke:

"Honestly, I had absolutely no intention of getting into the water or soaking myself like this."

Upon hearing those words from Eric, the curve of amusement across Len's features expanded drastically where he sat on the massive tree root.

Narrowing his brilliant golden eyes, he locked his gaze directly onto Eric, as if wordlessly reminding him of the precise calculation that had sent them both crashing backward into the deep pool.

Observing Len's transparent, mocking smile, the tension in Eric's jaw rigidified slightly

. He instantly pivoted his crimson pupils away from Len's coordinates. To mask his immediate annoyance, he redirected his attention toward the ground where Liyana and Kayra were positioned, exhaling a controlled breath as if trying to secure his innocence before them.

Liyana progressively shifted her orientation, her vision mapping the amused expression on Len's features before anchoring directly onto Eric across from her.

A highly subtle, faint curve of amusement rematerialized over her lips. Tilting her chin slightly forward, her quiet voice traveled across the space:

"Then... if that was not the objective, why exactly was your presence detected so deep within that cold volume?"

The absolute fraction those syllables registered, Eric rigidified his spine and transitioned away from his outer garment, standing completely upright on the forest floor.

Residual moisture cascaded from his attire onto the blades of grass. Attempting to preserve an absolute baseline of normalcy across his features, he moderated his cadence:

"It was nothing of significance. The baseline at the edge of the reservoir simply lacked structural stability... a sudden loss of traction forced the framework into the depth."

Maintaining her coordinates on the ground, Kayra's pupils tracked his abrupt vertical transition. Narrowing her gaze slightly as she monitored his posture, she formulated a direct query:

"What prompt caused you to abandon your seated position so suddenly?"

Eric systematically advanced his boots forward. Navigating over the dry grass without interrupting his momentum, he projected a casual, effortless response back into the environment:

"No specific reason, just an arbitrary choice."

He directly closed the distance to Len's coordinates. At that exact patch, a massive, rigid extension of the ancient tree trunk projected outward.

Refraining from further conversation, Eric shifted his center of gravity backward, anchoring his entire spine firmly against the solid bark of the tree, taking complete support. Now, his presence was completely stabilized immediately adjacent to Len.

On the other side, Kayra, who remained positioned a short distance away, gathered a few more dark, rounded berries between her fingertips from the leaf below.

Extending her palm horizontally through the air toward Len's coordinates, her low, unyielding cadence split the immediate perimeter:

"Here, consume this."

Monitoring the dark fruits resting inside Kayra's open palm, the intense curve of amusement that had scored Len's features systematically dissolved. The intent to mock Eric completely faded from his parameters.

Pivoting his golden pupils, he anchored his vision directly onto Kayra's countenance, his eyes now carrying a highly gentle, tempered luminescence instead of mischief. Allowing a soft, genuine smile to trace his lips, he tilted his chin forward.

Extending his fingers with absolute ease, he progressively transferred the rounded, dark berries away from Kayra's tracking palm and into his own hand. The cool texture of the fruit registered against his skin as he offered her a silent acknowledgment.

A brief, static quietness enclosed the perimeter for a duration. Right then, Liyana completely processed the residual flavor of the final berry between her lips.

Monitoring the broad leaf before her, she planted her palms against the earth, rigidified her spine, and transitioned completely away from her seated position on the dry grass.

Advancing her boots forward, she monitored the sticky, dark residue of the wild fruit scoring the tips of her fingers. Directing her strides toward the calm, luminous edge of the reservoir, she closed the distance to the aquatic boundary.

Reaching the damp baseline, she flexed her knees slightly and lowered her hands into the cold volume, dispersing the fluid across her skin to systematically clear the moisture.

Len progressively placed the dark berries from his palm between his lips, processing the rich, wild flavor as he consumed them.

Right then, Kayra's gaze targeted the broad green leaf resting directly on the ground before her, which still held a significant volume of the dark fruits.

Without a fraction of hesitation, she extended both hands, carefully lifting the entire structure of the leaf along with the remaining berries away from the earth.

Shifting her posture slightly forward on her knees, she deposited the entire fruit-laden leaf directly in front of Len's coordinates, effectively assigning the entire supply to him.

Monitoring this sudden, protective gesture from Kayra, the soft curve of amusement across Len's features intensified in a split second. A deep, genuine warmth mapped his golden eyes.

Attempting to moderate the visible expansion of his smile, he instantly elevated his free arm, unfolding his entire palm to shield his countenance from view, letting his fingers obscure his expression.

Having stabilized the leaf on the earth, Kayra elevated her eyelids.

Her vision systematically registered his structural coordinates; Len's primary hand still retained the initial berries she had delivered, while his alternate palm was completely spread, blocking his facial features from the front.

Slightly narrowing her brow, her calm, unvetted voice split the perimeter:

"What variables just altered your state? Why exactly have you deployed your hand to cover your face like that?"

Logging her direct inquiry, the fingers shielding Len's features progressively curled inward, transitioning into a loose fist. He systematically lowered his arm away from his countenance, exposing his entirely amused, bright features to the ambient light once more.

With absolute deliberation, his alternate hand descended, depositing the residual berries back onto the surface of the broad leaf she had just positioned before him.

Locking the full trajectory of his golden pupils directly into Kayra's calm gaze, his low, heavily weighted murmur dissolved into the air:

"You... are genuinely far too precious."
