Chapter 25 - CHAPTER-24 "A PRICE OF A MIRACLE"

Leah walked through the late-night streets like a wandering ghost, her mind consumed by the heavy shadows of her past.

She sat down on a lonely bench, the cold air biting at her spectral form.

Nearby, a passerby hurried along, muttering that it was already one o'clock in the morning.

Leah listened and felt a bittersweet smile touch her lips, remembering that her own accident had happened at this exact time only a month ago.

She began to cry silently, safe in the knowledge that no one could notice a girl who wasn't truly there.

Being invisible to the world, she allowed her memories to flash through her mind like a relentless storm.

Her history was a tapestry of loneliness until Kayla, Leo, and even Easton had entered the frame.

She wept as she recalled Kayla's constant promise: "You are my best friend, buddy; I will not let go of your hand until the day I die."

Tears rolled down Leah's cheeks as the weight of that loyalty pressed against her heart.

She thought of Leo, remembering their very first meeting and the magic of their dance together.

She closed her eyes, hearing his recent confession echo in the silence: "I love Elsa."

The flashes of her past continued to haunt her, and she whispered to the empty night.

"Once, I was just a lonely, simple girl who felt the world was too big to share my pain."

"I endured so much judgment and isolation before I finally understood the meaning of friendship and love through Kayla and Leo."

"I only ever wanted to be a good memory in their lives."

"But now, because of me, Kayla is fighting for her own life in a hospital bed."

"Why should she have to save me? Why did Leo have to take a liking to a girl like me?"

"WHY?" she shouted, her voice disappearing into the wind.

"I am the reason for everyone's troubles."

"I wish I had died on that first day, because staying in their lives only brings them agony."

"I cannot bear to see my best friend suffering because of my existence, and I cannot let Leo fall into further danger."

She looked at the horizon and made a firm, heartbreaking decision.

"I will not go back to Leo; he will be safer if I am gone."

"He must never know that I am a soul without a body, for that reality would only shatter him."

"I will pray for his safety, but I will stay away."

Her gaze shifted to a car parked nearby, where a five-year-old baby girl sat playing with a toy bear.

The child leaned her head out of the window, and her innocent smile began to melt Leah's frozen heart.

Suddenly, the rain began to pour again, and the car accelerated quickly down the slick road.

The vehicle lost control, skidding violently before crashing into a divider.

Flame began to lick at the crumpled metal, and the baby started to cry out in terror.

"MY TOY!" the child wailed.

Leah rushed toward the wreck, finding the baby's parents injured and semi-conscious.

They cried out a name that sounded like "Carla," but to Leah's emotional ears, it sounded like "Kayla."

The memory of her friend gave her a sudden, fierce resolve.

She remembered the divine warning: "Never use your powers beyond your reach, or you will face the consequences of losing your soul's strength."

Seeing the fire spreading toward the child, Leah's fear turned into a protective rage.

"NO!" she screamed.

She unleashed her ice powers fiercely, targeting the engine and the growing flames.

The effort sent a searing pain through her spectral wrists, but she did not stop.

The car began to cool under the frost, and Leah used her telekinesis to lift the fallen toy bear.

The baby, Carla, watched in wide-eyed wonder as her toy flew through the air and landed in her lap.

"Ku ku!" the baby giggled, her fear forgotten for a moment.

Leah saw the parents were still severely injured and realized she had to use her healing touch.

"I will not let anything happen to them," she vowed through the agonizing strain.

"I will never let this baby suffer the loneliness I felt, even if it means losing my soul."

"I know that pain, and it will not touch this child."

Scratches and marks began to appear on Leah's wrists as her energy drained away.

She struggled against the fading of her light until, finally, the parents' wounds vanished completely.

Leah smiled weakly as the mother and father regained consciousness and pulled Carla into a desperate hug.

"Thank God! We are safe!" they cried.

Leah used a final spark of energy to push the toy securely into the backseat through the window.

"It's a miracle," the father whispered, holding his family tight, unaware that a ghost had saved them.

Baby Carla tried to point at the invisible savior, but her parents were too overwhelmed with joy to notice.

Leah watched them, happy that the child would never know the cold of being alone.

The pain finally became too much to bear, and Leah's form flickered and vanished once again into the shadows of the night.

Leo is driving his car with full of speed in the late night
