Corrupted Universal Mark of Communication (Soul)
Effects: can understand what other beings mean in any language. Due to the passive being corrupted however, any other being listening to you will only hear incomprehensible speech, barely understanding you.

I'm seeing this word used for a couple of things now…

Reading over the passive again I can't help but hover over the part where Inv's speech is affected by this passive…
I've kinda ignored it this whole time honestly. I just thought it was the way he talked… also I could understand him well enough anyways. His speech isn't exactly incomprehensible to me? I actually found it pretty endearing…

It's really a good thing Inv has this passive. Or we wouldn't be able to communicate at all!
But it's strange. If this is a universal mark of communication then that means there's a normal one, right? So how did Inv get this?
I don't think even an iterator can provide a mark of communication that can translate any language and make it 2 way…

Then, a strange question pops into my mind.
'Who made Inv?' This question seems weird to ask but at this point I highly doubt Inv was naturally born.
He just has too many unnatural things about him! Of course this doesn't change the way how I feel about him. This just makes me question Inv's origins…
'Ugh… I'm not gonna get anywhere questioning this… I can just try to ask him when I get the chance…' coming to this conclusion I look at the next passive.
Rapid Healing (Vessel)
Effects: The more food pips you have, the faster you heal. Saliva also has unknown effects to different species.
'...wait... Inv has a healing factor? that's so fucking awesome! I always wondered how Inv could traverse this world without fearing of being hurt. or getting hurt while fighting. this is the reason why! if he wins a fight and eats what he kills, he's rewarded with increased healing!'
scrolling up a bit again I look at Inv's food pips, seeing all 15 filled. with 15 full food pips this is literally the perfect passive for Inv! I wonder how fast he heals with all 15 full?
This does make me feel a bit better about worrying if Inv gets injured, I'll just need to get him some food and boom! he'll be good as new!
although... the last sentence mentioning that his saliva has unknown effects on different species is a little strange... I can only hope it's nothing negative for a slugcat...
Hoping that Inv's kisses don't somehow kill me, I look at the next passive.
Mimic (Vessel)
Effects: copy the appearance of any species you come across. The more you know about a certain species, the more accurate you will look to said species.
'...uhh…what? What did that just say?' rereading over the passive after a numerous amount of times the realization slowly kicks in.
Inv… is not a slugcat…
I guess… I should've expected this? It's just really weird to see it confirmed like this…

I guess it doesn't matter. Inv is Inv. I'm too far invested to be put off by something like this. But this passive is actually kinda cool. This means he could change to any species he wants!
He could be a lizard, scavenger, spider, dropwig… there's so many possibilities! I can only wonder why out of all the things Inv could've chosen… he chose a slugcat?
Is he even aware that he can change into other things?

He did say he's seen other slugcats before… he never brought it up again though… what exactly happened between him and the other slugcats…

With my resolve being… weirdly solidified even more. I look at Inv's last passive.
Joseph's Mark (Soul) (Unique) (complete)
Effects: Your Soul Mate can sense where you are at all times. Your vessel will have a permanent mark representing a part of your Soul Mates vessel.
Seeing my mark appear I notice the difference between the one I got from Inv. this one has a complete tag to it.
'So Inv's ear turning pink really was part of the mark… this means if Inv's mark is ever completed… a part of my face will change color?'

I need to figure out how to do this as soon as possible. Only because it's not fair for Inv to have his face covered in pink! Definitely no other reasons…
With the last passive read, I move onto Inv's attributes.
Attributes-
Strength - Robust
Speed - Strong
Stamina - Strong
Endurance - Strong
I can't help but let out a small whistle. Damn, I knew his stats would be good, but the system itself is calling him strong! One of the stats even says robust? Is that better than Strong?
Seeing 2 more different tiers of what a stat could be still doesn't really give me an idea how far I'm from something like that. But it's still cool to see a path forward.
'Heh, I knew Inv was strong. I don't need the system to tell me that!' With this thought I exit out of Inv's menu, with that being the last thing I could see on there.
And with that… that's all. That's all the new things the system has to offer.
Finally letting go of my head I open my eyes. Of course, there wasn't any point in this since all I see still is darkness…
It's going to be a little confusing getting used to this new stuff… but it's also exciting! I've been stuck for so long without seeing any sort of progress in… anything!
With these new changes and having Inv! My life has turned for the better!
