In the land south from the forest is where the mighty kingdom of Elasta resides. The kingdom is filled with magical knights and beasts with power mightier than the modern world could ever compare to. Their swordmanship, unmatched and their magic, refined. The kingdom is headed by five distinct clans, each powerful in their own right. In charge of the kingdom's safety and security was five army divisions consisting of knights and makes. The one that was at the center of it all was their great and wise king;Sir Babylon. Because of him,the kingdom was always prosperous and always thriving.
However, there was always that troubled not just him,but even everyone in that kingdom, dead or alive. It was a prophecy. It said that when it appeared,it would unleash a terror to the world so terrifying that no creature would survive it. The threat was said to be so large that not even they, the mighty kingdom, could fathom it. Living creatures would fall, beasts thought thought to be extinct would arise and the world itself would collapse.
The situation was comical or ironical that something so exaggerated, like a forgotten fairy tale, could actually frighten people. And for a moment, the people even started to forget about it. That story was starting to be forgotten by the people just like all the other tales and rumors in the world. That was until a few years ago when the "rumors" started coming back to life. A great tremor of life force and energy suddenly clashed with the world that it caused massive earthquakes. Then all of a sudden the sky split apart releasing a bright show of lights that shone across the entire world. Out of that crack came creatures unseen by mortals from above.
Thankfully, the earthquakes stooped after their interference, but the damage was already done. Not even a year after, the demibeasts emerged. Their existence was an anomaly to the world itself. How could a creature be born out of two different entities with completely different body structure and properties, yet they work so in tandom that is seemed natural for them almost like it was destiny? That could only be seen as either a miracle or as a curse. That type of thing could never be seen as normal by the people.
Then in the midst of the chaos and confusion, someone asked,' What if they are related to the end and the prophecy?'
After that they could not help but wonder. Sure, they could assume the whole thing as nonsense and move on but in doing so,they feared that would create a mistake that they could never hope to erase. They pondered for quite some time and in the end, they decided to treat them as a curse. They were hunted, tortured and killed for the 'monsters' they were. Many were massacred and nailed to death until only a handful of them remained.
Afterwards, they decided that such a fresh batch of fresh was going to go to waste if they died. They got greedy and thought of ways of making profits off of them. Due to their overwhelming greed, the demibeasts lived but at the cost of them living as merchandise and tools to be discarded.
They survived and lived through 'The Great Cleansing' which lasted for about three years and persevered through the torment for another ten years. They cried out but eventually their eyes dried up. They screamed but eventually their voice died out and faded. They learnt, like through repeated practice, that they had to show no opinions or emotions of their own if they wanted to survive to see the next sunrise. They lived through all sorts of humiliation until one day, a miracle had occurred.
"The demibeasts have all escaped from their detention. Knights, after them immediately!" Someone shouted in a loud and hoarse voice.
On hearing these words, the army rushed after them. They could not afford to be careless with their invaluable goods. They ran relentlessly but due time sime unexpected interference, they lost them near the forest warmed never to cross. That was the sacred forest from the immemorial days. It was one of the few untainted pieces of the past that still remained despite the passing of time. Although they did not want to let the demibeasts roam free, they could not predict what would happen if they tired to pursue them any further than that, rather they did not even wish to try to. That place was that of mysteries and the energy emitted from there was always overwhelming such that the Kings of all various neighbouring nations never dared to overstep. It was essentially a kingdom by itself,a kingdom without a ruler.
And so,they left the place while they could even get angry and decide to kill all of them in their stead. They left while a great sense of regret was gnawing greatly in their hearts. They felt powerless in the situation and even though they were grateful the issue could be taken care of easily, they could not help but regret even if it is only a little. Afterwards, months passed and they thought that the story had come to a close. That was until...
" My king,my king. I have some urgent news that I have to share!"
It was the military commander of Elasta. He ran across the hallway and on reaching the King's throne room he immediately bowed down and kneeled with its head touching the smooth and shiny ground. In his hand was a couple sheets of paper and on his face wore a distressed expression. He slowly lifted his head showing the face of a man in his mid thirties. The King then commanded,"Speak" as he crossed his ten fingers and put his right leg over the other. His tone was calm. He started and crawled towards the mighty figure to present him the paper. On taking the papers, the man stood up and said that those were the recent reports on the sacred forest. The King's hands slightly trembled at the sight. On the papers, written in bold, was written that the demibeasts were still alive. They were witnessed by the guards hunting the very animals they thought would have killed them. They had survived and looked healthier than before.
"Tch. Annoying brats..."
The King could not help but be annoyed. After only a few months, they went from never having learnt how to wield a weapon to even knowing how to hunt beasts on all their own. Even when considering their young age,he thought,"If they actually reach their adulthood then... Those pests. Even after all of this, they are still so lively!"
