Special Chapter: Important Clarifications About This Fic
[Author's Note (Zerotime):]
Author of: Shadow Slave: Lord of Darkness.
Hey there, everyone! I'm taking a short break from the usual schedule because I was reading the comments on all the chapters while sipping my coffee, and honestly, I'm having an absolute blast with your reactions.
I see a lot of new readers who are surprised, and the veterans celebrating how the MC is just wrecking the plot. But since the fic is growing, I thought it'd be great to have a little intermission to chat, have a few laughs, and lay out the "rules of the game" for this story.
So, here are the important clarifications about this fic!
To keep it entertaining, let's list them out.
1. Welcome to the Suffering-Free Zone!
Let's be real: Guiltythree's original novel is an absolute masterpiece. But if one thing's been clear since chapter one, it's that the guy loves watching Sunny suffer. He makes him crawl through mud, eat rotten meat, almost die at every turn, and accumulate enough psychological trauma to fill an entire hospital.
When I started reading Shadow Slave fanfics, I noticed a hilarious trend: almost every author does the exact same thing! They reincarnate a protagonist with future knowledge, and instead of letting them enjoy it, they throw them into starvation on the Forgotten Shore and make them the punching bag for monsters just "to keep it realistic."
This fic was born, literally, as a parody of that.
I thought it'd be an incredibly fun idea to do the complete opposite.
Why go through hardships when we can have a protagonist who uses canon knowledge to skip all the drama and jump straight to the fun part? We're not here to cry in the corners; we're here to watch the world burn with a smile.
2. The Glorious Art of Becoming Absurdly Strong
Some ask, "Isn't the protagonist too powerful?" There's also "That's totally stupid or doesn't make sense," "The protagonist is too overpowered," or my personal favorite, "This is written using AI."
And my answer is yes, to most of them, and no to the last one. I don't use AI to write this story. I tried it once, and it just spat out a bunch of weird words and changed everything, so I don't use it.
Now, regarding the power scale, it's really simple and brings me a lot of joy when writing it:
```
[Strong MC] ───> [Much Stronger MC] ───> [Total Chaos for Fun]
```
Giving him a Divine-ranked Aspect (whether it's of the Void, Chaos, Darkness, or whatever) and letting him sweep the floor with the dangers of the Dream Realm isn't a miscalculation:
it's the very soul of this fic.
My favorite part of writing this is throwing a runaway truck right into the middle of a highly rehearsed play. Seeing the faces the canon characters would make when an unbeatable monster appears out of nowhere to shatter all their perfectly laid plans is simply cinema.
3. Canon is Just a Personalized Playground
Forget the traditional routes. We're not following Nephis around like a lapdog here, nor are we seeing the original story repeated with an extra character floating in the background trying to "fit into the plot naturally." How boring would that be!
Future knowledge isn't for the protagonist to adapt to the world; it's to force the world to adapt to him.
If the Great Clans, the Sovereigns, and the Nightmare Creatures end up confused and terrified because the Spell's rules, or whatever, no longer work, then the mission is accomplished.
4. In Summary, to Have a Good Time:
Will there be existential monologues lasting 40 chapters about the cruelty of fate? Nope. Here, fate is the one begging for mercy.
Is this a satirical power-fantasy to turn your brain off and enjoy the hype? Absolutely yes!
At the end of the day, I started this fanfic with a single goal: to have fun writing something completely different and to share that fun with all of you.
It's a space to disconnect from the constant tragedy of the original novel and enjoy watching a powerful protagonist become "even more powerful" just because he can.
So get comfortable, leave your spiritual stones, and get ready, because in the next volume, the protagonist is going to break another sacred rule of the universe, and we're going to have a blast!
So, if you don't like this story, if you're displeased, or if you simply don't want to see it, or feel hatred, anger, disgust, or any other negative emotion...
...well, I consider that I've done a wonderful job then.
So yeah, that's all I wanted to say to answer some of your doubts. Keep reading this story and enjoy Uriel and Shade's next adventures.
Well, that's it. See you... well, not for a long time, maybe when volume twelve of Shadow Slave ends with the Underworld.
Now, for real, goodbye.
P.S. Leave your comments about anything, or any complaints you have, even if they're good or bad. I love reading them, and I might reply to some.
