Chapter 172 - Chapter 172: Schemes and Stratagems

"Honor? You think dying in battle is honor? Heh, a so-called gladiator is nothing but a brainless piece of trash. To sell your life for demons, is that honor? If so, then the so-called honor of the Orcs is not even worth dog shit!" Arthas sneered as he lopped off an Orc's head, his eyes cold.

"You know full well that demons are driving you, tempting you to drink the Demon Blood and become frenzied, yet you remain completely oblivious. No wonder you were ruled by Ogres!"

"Shut up! Shut your mouth!" Kargath became furious at the mention of Ogres. If it weren't for the Ogres, he wouldn't have become what he was—a eunuch!

"I'll give you a chance. Go back and ask Orgrim if demons are pulling the strings behind all this. If you wish to die for demons, I can grant you that wish. After I defeat the Horde, I will carve your name in stone and tell all Orcs that this is a demon's running dog, a disgrace to the Orcs. The Orcs' demise is directly related to you. You are the sinner of the Orcs, and you will be spat upon by them for all eternity!" Arthas used Holy Command of Glory, healing Kargath's injuries.

Kargath weakly stood up and stopped his clansmen from continuing their attack, his eyes fixed on Arthas. "If what you say is false, I will make you wish you were never born!"

"And if what I say is true?" Arthas sneered. "Fel Energy is unique to demons. Just look at Gul'dan, you fool."

"If what you say is true, I am willing to lead the Shattered Hand clan in submission to you." Kargath respected Arthas as a warrior. In a duel, using any means necessary was normal; that was a duel, not a martial arts competition.

"Then go back. Disappear from my sight at once! Samuro, let's go! We'll kill all the other traitors who don't know what's good for them and continue to sell their lives for demons, defiling the honor of the Orcs!" With that, Arthas charged, continuing to cut down other Orcs.

"Yes, Master," Samuro said to Kargath. "An Orc's honor lies in challenging strong enemies and protecting the clan's survival, not in selling our lives to the demons who destroyed our home. Not even for Orgrim!"

These words gave Kargath pause. He was a hot-tempered Orc, but he was also an Orc with honor. They had only chosen to invade Azeroth because Draenor was no longer habitable.

This scene was witnessed by one of Orgrim's spies, who immediately reported the situation to Orgrim. This was a major event! An Orc Blademaster had surrendered! It was a very bad omen.

At the same time, a magical letter was delivered to Gul'dan. Words were written on it in the Eredar script. Gul'dan happened to have seen this script before and had studied it, so he could understand some of it.

"Find an opportunity. Come see me at Windrunner Pass."

After burning the letter, Gul'dan began to ponder who could have sent it to him.

The fierce battle raged for an entire day. Orgrim had sent a massive number of Orcs to press the attack, especially after seeing Arthas appear. He wanted to make a concerted effort to kill him in Quel'Thalas. If Arthas died, it would surely deal a heavy blow to the Alliance's morale.

But the more Arthas killed, the fiercer he became, reaching a point where he would slay gods if they stood in his way. The Holy Light around him did not fade for a long time. Using a strange counter-attack tactic, he took down one Orc, Ogre, and Troll after another. If they tried to avoid his attacks, the longsword in his hand would pierce their foreheads and scramble their brains. It was far more efficient and less strenuous than lopping off their necks.

"Ding! Quest 'Seven Heroes of Draenor I' complete."

"Ardent Defender has been upgraded. Ardent Defender (Advanced): Upon activation, damage taken is reduced by 30% for sixty seconds. Cooldown: one hundred twenty seconds. Each stack of Holy Light Energy consumed reduces the cooldown by one second. During its duration, 10% of damage taken is converted into healing."

"Ding! Quest triggered: 'Seven Heroes of Draenor II'."

"'Seven Heroes of Draenor II': Cooperate with Gul'dan to divide the Horde's allied forces and further weaken the Orcs' strength. Details: Incite internal strife among the Orcs. Reward: Unlock Warrior talent, location of the Frostwolf Clan."

Arthas's brow furrowed as he looked at the quest prompt. Unlocking the Warrior talent was a good thing. A Warrior combined with a Paladin would make him a tanky, high-damage, unkillable badass. But the location of the Frostwolf Clan was a bit thought-provoking. Did it want him to rule the Orcs?

In Arthas's eyes, the Orcs were nothing more than a tool. These savage Orcs could not be redeemed. He wasn't an idiot; why would he redeem the Orcs? The Orcs could serve as tools and cannon fodder, but only on the condition that they existed as his slaves. The word "slave" could be replaced with a nicer-sounding name; a little linguistic artistry could make the Orcs willingly sell their lives for him. So-called honor? It was nothing but a joke.

That evening, in Silvermoon City, when the blood-soaked Arthas returned, every High Elf couldn't help but feel a sense of respect for him. He was a valiant warrior and a powerful Paladin, especially for his feat of bringing back most of the fallen High Elves from the brink of death in one go during the war. This made many High Elves revere him as a god. Moreover, they heard that he was also protected by dragons. This was a true chosen one! Even Prince Kael'thas seemed to pale in comparison before him.

Mareecia was leading her subordinates in spreading the doctrine. They were all High Elves who had been resurrected by Arthas's Holy Light and held a blind adoration for him. They chattered on, spreading Arthas's will, publicizing his glorious achievements, and even adding many different versions to the stories. Repelling demons, fighting alongside dragons, fending off the Naga siege, and so on—they deified Arthas, shaping him into a righteous and powerful figure. Incidentally, recruiting more High Elves to their cause was the key.

"Arthas, are you all right?" Alleria had to command the Ranger Corps, so she didn't fight alongside Arthas. But she always focused her attention on her lover, intentionally or unintentionally directing the Rangers' ranged fire to support him.

"I'm fine, don't worry. I need to take a bath first, then we can have a proper talk. Let Sylvanas take over for you. Come with me," Arthas said, shaking his head. He was in a state of extreme excitement. After a slaughter, many negative emotions would arise, and it was essential to vent them properly.
